How do I Become an Audiometrist?
Beginning a career as an Audiometrist
Currently there is no New Zealand-based qualification available in Audiometry so the most common entry pathway into the profession is with the TAFE Diploma in Audiometry. This is an online course.
This qualification reflects the role of audiometrists who conduct hearing assessments to identify hearing impairment and take appropriate action based on the test results. They may refer clients for further audiological or medical assessment, and be involved in care management and education programmes. At this level, audiometrists also prescribe and dispense hearing aids and/or other listening devices to assist in hearing rehabilitation. Audiometrists may work in medical or industrial contexts or as independent practitioners.
See more information on the TAFE Diploma course here >
It is also possible to become an Audiometrist if you have a Bachelor's level Degree in Audiology from overseas.
